Being an almost millionaire - Self Reflection

I was almost a millionaire today!
Caleb gave Monster's bakery one million dollars, and donations are on a ratio of 1 - 10 as well!
That's 10 million dollars! She was going to give ME a million, and then I would multiply by 10 as well, and then I would be a millionaire! We were going to keep donating a million dollars back and forth! We could have been SUPER RICH!
BUT... Nicole said we couldn't do that so, we weren't millionaires - we could have been BILLIONAIRES!

I'm kind of disappointed, but it was very close, and for the time that I thought I was going to be a billionaire it was exiting :)

The Cottage

Heylo readers!

Midnight Madness was...sort of succesful. I made $18,000, and, well, that's not much.
So, it's summer now, and a cold one. It hasn't been over 23 degrees!
My parents invited Tristan and I, and the kids, to stay at their cottage while they were in Europe. I took 5 days off of work to go. Kate loved it! She played around the cottage, inside, and at the beach, all the time! We played, and played, and played. Both Kate and Blake got very tired at the end of the day. Back home, we have to wrestle them into bed. At the cottage, they just go up to bed and fall asleep instantly. My favourite part about being at the cottage is sitting on the porch, watching the sun set behind the trees.
So far, this summer is very nice. I am having fun!

Kate's "little" disaster

Heylo Readers!

This was the first time Kate was alone in the house! We were running out of groceries, and Kate was napping, so I decided to slip out for maybe 20 minutes. I took the car and I bought my groceries as fast as I could. But, to my astonishment, when I got home, Kate had gotten out of her "big girl" bed - a Christmas present - and the house was a mess! There were toys everywhere, and little Kate had gotten into the cookies! She was sitting on the couch, watching TV - I'm not sure why she's so tech savvy - and chocolate was ALL OVER HER FACE!
She was eating a rather large cookie when I walked in, and crumbs were flying all over!
"Kate!" I said angrily. "You know you aren't supposed to be having cookies, or watching TV when Mommy and Daddy aren't here!"
"Mommy," Kate replied. "I woke up and you were gone, and I was hungry, so I got a snack!"
It was so cute, I almost forgave her, but she needs to know she can't just take cookies.
"Kate," I said. "That was my fault, I went out to get some snacks, but you can't take cookies, they're unhealthy!"
"No TV either," I added.
"OK Mommy!" said Kate excitedly.


I am so exited for Midnight Madness! I'm baking a special batch of cookies, and I'm open until midnight! Kate can stay up until her bedtime, and maybe a little bit after, but I need to make sure she gets some sleep.

Random Things... - Self Reflection

Heylo readers!

Phew! I just finished a history test! There was like 5 min left, and I was just typing, and typing, and typing! I FINALLY finished, and now I'm able to work on what I'm going to do for Midnight Madness. I think I'm going to bring that old phone that's always sitting in the laundry room, and the light from my desk. Oh! Maybe I can bring a tablecloth too! Aaand, maybe a business card holder...if I can find one...

I'm exited, but I don't know how many people are actually going to come to my cafe. Someone will though. I think. I hope. I dream. I'm going on, and on, and its boring, I know. Maybe some cool pictures will make it more interesting...

Nope, I kind of just want to write, and look like I'm working even though I'm  bored out of my mind. So bored. So, so, so, so bored.

I still have to buy all the gifts I need to buy...and ummm...ooo!! I got a bed for my little girl as her Christmas present, and a pair of Birkenstocks for Elfie. Town is eventful - oh!

I COMPLETERY FORGOT!

There was a pretty intense panel discussion last week. It was mostly about the condo, and at times it got pretty heated. I asked a question about whether the artificial beach that will be put in, would be private, or public. That question sparked a whole, big discussion!

I want to thank all the people in like, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Canada, and the US for paying a little attention, at one (or more) times to my little blog. It is amazing how big the world is, and it is great to be appreciated by people on the other side of it.

The Holiday "Cheer"

I'm pretty exited for Noah and Iain's wedding! The cake - made by Monster and Cecilia - sounds delicious, as Monster tells me:) I know this wedding is going to be fantastic. There's going to be a Will Workshop soon, but I don't need to go because my husband is a lawyer! How life is generous sometimes...
It really surprises you.

Well, its nearing the holidays, and everyone's rushing around, getting gifts. Just yesterday, Brenagh came up to my door with a list and she asked me what I wanted for Christmas! When I told her I wanted Doc Martens, she wrote it down - beside my name (!) - and said a hasty "Thanks!", and walked hurriedly down the block. Speaking of gifts, I need to get some!

REFLECTING!

Heylo!

I just love that word! Its a cross between "hey" and "hello"! People should start saying it more often!
But let me get to the point.
So I'm doing fine so far. Emphasis on fine. I have some things I'm completely on top of...and some things I, well, they're not so good. I love doing my blogs - obviously, 3rd blog in 2 days, HELLO! I also love doing my spreadsheets. I just find them so easy! I keep it open on my laptop during business time, and then I update while they buy! I also have a Town wallet, and I'm collecting as many business cards as possible. Kate and Jess keep me supplied with lots of cards and artwork. Enrolling Kate in art classes has helped that. I think that's good, but there is so much work involved with Town, it's impossible to be on top of everything. I wonder how grown ups do it!

Anyways, got to go!

Kind of embarrassing - Kate and I were the only ones at Jess's birthday!
She LOVED her gift - all she did after that was interview Monster, Fran, and me, with Kate and Ivey as her sidekick!
I kind of feel bad that I gave her the gift, I'm sure Monster and Fran have a headache already :(

Yes, maybe even a migraine.
Tristan and I still have to get married, and I know this sounds crazy, but we're just too busy to get around to it!

Sorry, just catching up on this ahmazing TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
Yeah, I know I know, its from like, 1996, but its SO good! I'm only on season 2...but...it's good :)

I'm so glad that Tristan bought us a TV, so I can watch it on a nice, big screen. Today I finished the second season! It has such a CLIFF HANGER! And its so sad! ***SPOILER ALERT***
Kendra dies and then Buffy has to use Angel's blood to close the vortex that will put all of mankind into Hell, but when she is about to do it, he turns good! But she still does it, because she needs to save the world! :'(
But also she's expelled from school by Principal Schneider and she's kicked out of her house by her mom by accident, so she LEAVES Sunnydale!

OH MY GOSH IT'S SO SAD!

But, a TV show isn't too important, I just wanted to tell someone.

Yeah, so that's the big thing right now.

Got to go, Kate isn't at daycare because it's Saturday, and she wants lunch,

Jess's Birthday!

Hey everyone!

Today is Jess's birthday, and I can't wait to go! Fran and Monster are decorating the house - as I write!
I'm pretty sure Jess is as exited as I am! I really hope she likes my gift, a 119.00 microphone!!!
Yes, I'm a very nice Auntie Annie.
Due to her reporter phase, I think the microphone will be PERFECT! Now she can walk around the house, interviewing everything - with a microphone! PLUS, when she gets into her theatre phase, her singing phase, her politician phase, her radio phase...it will come in handy.

I think Fran and Monster are doing lots of hard work planning for this party. They have been working since last week! Kate says they are planning a very "coolziz" birthday party. Coolziz is a word that Kate has been using a lot, she uses it to decscribe EVERYTHING - "That's a coolziz shirt!", "I have coolziz shoes!", "Day care is coolziz!". I really don't understand how she came up with that word, she must have learned it at day care. I seriously don't know what goes on in there :)

I'm not sure when the party starts, but I have a suspision it's at 1:00. It's not even 12:00 though!
I guess I'll give Kate a very light lunch - no doubt there'll be food at the party - and then when it's time, we'll head over. Tristan is a little mad I bought such an expensive gift for Jess, but you know what, she definitely deserves it :)
I told I'm buying it myself, and he has to buy his own gift. Good for me.

I have to go now, because I have to start lunch.

Ahh...the joys of little children...

Hey All you grown ups! (or not...)

Maddy won the lottery! Well, it was $25.00...But still its the winning that counts!
Fran was SO close to winning the Grand Prize - $5,000.00!!!
Kate is obsessed with pink clouds - as always :)

I know, I know, its kind of crazy, but I happen to think its pretty cute!
Its funny because Brenagh and Caleb have a daughter who's obsessed with pink unicorns!


So Kate started day care last week, and she loves it! She's been coming home with pictures and cards almost every day (we have to find a place to keep them all - the mantel's a little crowded)!

Jess now has a fascination with reporters, and its really cute when she comes over to play! For all of the 2 or 3 hours she is over, they play reporter! They interview EVERYTHING! The dog, the TV, the bookshelf, the couch, and me! Their questions are sometimes very, well, interesting. One day they asked me why I was a girl!

I also recently enrolled Kate in art classes. She has been coming home with even more paintings (a box is set up for these), and is always eager to show what she's learned! Ellen has taught her well, though, her drawing skills have improved a lot!

When I came to pick Kate up at Jessie's the other day, I came home with about 10 POUNDS of cards, drawings, and other assorted artworks! To my surprise, Kate and Jess had been playing artist, NOT reporter (yet another box is needed!)! Maddy also had about a wagonload of other artwork - JUST BY JESSIE!

Anyways, I got hardly any business today! :( But I still got about 5% more revenues this summer! The tourist season was in full swing!

Anyways, daycare pick-up is in 15 min! If I don't get going now, I'll be late!

Mayor and Mayor Candidate Response

Mayor Jonah

Mayor Jonah is the current mayor of Horizonia. He is all for "Taking the extra step." He has lived in Horizonia for 7 years, and he has talked to many people who live here. He wants what the people want.

Mayor Jonah has 4 major ideas: 

1.  Mayor Jonah wants to improve transit, to make it more efficient, and usable, for people who only have transit as a travel option. He also wants to make it greener. He wants mostly to have greener heating.

2. Mayor Jonah wants to build a condo on the old factory. He thinks it doesn't do anything for the town, it is not a tourist attraction, and is not pretty. He thinks the condo will help small businesses. These small businesses can move into the bottom of the condo and people can just come downstairs and buy stuff. He is not going to make them all metal, and made of glass. He wants to make them out of brick, to have them seem more friendly.

3. Mayor Jonah wants to build a community centre. He thinks that day cares can move into it, and that would be good business. He also wants to put a pool in. The reason is that parents will be assured that their kids will be safe while swimming. They can also have swimming lessons in the pool, and it will be good for swimming during the winter as well as the summer.

4. Mayor Jonah wants to build a boardwalk in the swamp. He thinks this will be good because people can enjoy all that the swamp has to offer, and it will be like a conservation area, so no big companies will destroy it. He wants to make it a nature reserve with feeding stations. People will walk along the boardwalk and feed the wildlife that lives there. He also wants to clean out the swamp. It will be volunteer work to do that, and Roy Buck will also help a lot.

Mayor Jonah is genuinely interested in what we have to say. He wants to hear peoples voices, and for families to prosper.

 Emma Swarney

Emma is the mayor-candidate for the upcoming election next year. She has many of the same interests as Mayor Jonah, and is dedicated to Horizonia. 

She loves the community and the people who live here. She loves the small-town feel of Horizonia, and wants to keep it that way. She doesn't want Horizonia to become a big city like Toronto. 

Emma has 3 major ideas:

1. Wants to improve transit because it is so faulty. She thinks she can find a solution for it.

2. She thinks day care is very expensive, and wants to make it more affordable.

3. Project Lakeshore is her biggest idea. 

There are 3 components to Project Lakeshore.

    1. Save the marsh. Emma wants to make the marsh into a conservation area. She thinks this is important because of all the wildlife that is living in the marsh. She would like to clean out the marsh of all the garbage that has been accumulated there.

    2. Turn the smaller abandoned factory into condos. She thinks this will attract some new citizens to Horizonia, therefore making more business and improving the economy. 

    3. Turn the larger abandoned factory into a park with a beach. Emma wants to do this because there are no places in which to swim in the lake, except the super-expensive country club. She thinks this will have a really good effect on the community, and tourism.

Emma wants to make Horizonia a great, very friendly place to live. 

I am not sure who to vote for because of 2 major reasons. 

Both Emma and Jonah have some of the same goals. They are great ones, but this means that there is no difference in which ever one of them you vote for, for mayor. 

The second reason is that their ideas are both very expensive. How will we pay for a whole 2 factories to be destroyed, and then made into something else? How will we pay for a community centre with a pool? How will we pay for a condo to be built? 

Since the big crash in 2008, people are struggling more than ever with money. If our taxes are raised, we may not be able to afford as much as we can now. What if the government doesn't give us the money we need to build all this?

I have many un-answered questions, and that is why I am un decided. 

I NEED CASH

Hello hello Readers (in Canada, the US, Germany, Russia, etc...)!

I am pretty happy :) but I'm still short of money (by now I think every grown up is :( )

So that's kind of the big thing.

My kid is over her flu now (Thank God!). There is now no more "Mommy, I need you!" at 3:00am.

My business is kind of dead-end, considering my qualifications.

Tristan and I are selling my house (which I thought had a pool, but doesn't).

Life is developing a pattern - I NEED MONEY!

So that's kind of how life is.

But, one the bright side!

I'm not naked anymore!

I FINALLY got my clothes for 3 years from Rolls Henfrew, the ONLY womens clothing store in Horizonia. 

Yep, so that's what's happening in life.

I have to pick uo Kate from day care.

We adopted Kate from an orphanage in Toronto, and she is  beautiful! She has red hair, and green eyes :)  I have no critical remarks. Tristan doesn't like my choice of kid. I REALLY don't understand that. I will still love our other kid that we haven't gotten yet, even if he really DOES name him Howard like he's threatening too :)

See? I am a caring person! I love nature, animals, and KIDS!

Tristan is a little picky. That can sometimes bother me, but I can stand it.

Anyways, I have to take Kate to the doctor because her fever isn't going down!

2013!!!! (the world didn't end)

Hey readerrrrrssss!!!!!
Glad to say, the world didn't end like it was supposed to!
This year has been an unusual year, with many exiting events.
like the snowstorm, opening my cafe, buying my first house, etc...

Believe it or not this Christmas was the best one yet! I had so much fun singing carols, wrapping presents, opening presents, eating, singing, laughing, singing, eating, wrapping presents, opening presents, eating, singing.... I could go on and on.

My parents invited me to their newly renovated, winterized cottage for a little "Holiday Dinner". They also invited my sister, Lara, who lives in Toronto. We had a great time, and Dad even took everyone on a hike around the woods that surround the cottage. It was so quiet, and peaceful, I instantly remembered why I had chosen to live in Horizonia instead of a big city like Toronto, or Vancouver. In the city, the noise never stops, there is always a car going down the street, people talking, walking, singing. But out in the country, all that stops. There is a sense of peace, and calm. There is actually moments when you can't hear anything except your own thoughts. You know at that moment, you aren't stressed, you are content. Nothing fazes you from whatever calm suddenly wraps its arms around you. I realized that, living in a town like Horizonia, gives calm a chance to catch me, whereas, in the city, there are many people to choose from. Calm can only catch so many in its warm hug at once. That is why I also felt lucky that fate chose me to realize that.

Alright, so that was the "mushy" part.

So, on New Years, I celebrated at Caleb and Brenagh's mansion, with Tristan, Elf Conselour, Monster, and Frances. We all counted down 'till the New Year, and cheered, when it arrived. We were happy the world didn't end and we made resolutions together.

Boy, so much work to be done!

Heat Wave

Phew!
That heat wave was so hot, all I could do was sit with the air conditioning on full blast!
I couldn't make any blog entries because my fingers would slip all over the keys (needless to say is was disgusting...)! The cafe was even hotter. I had so much less business! All the tourists didn't come, or stayed in the Dragonfly Inn. All my regulars mostly didn't come either. It was just too hot. I opened the cafe earlier while it was still at least a little bit (but not much) colder. I was sometimes closed in the middle of the day when it was hottest, because at that time, I really didn't have any business as it was the hottest part of the day. I still need to get clothes, and food, and shoes. Gosh, there is so much work involved with Town!
I don't think I really want to be a grown up :)
